Where Is the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry?

Forget Harvard, Oxford, Cambridge, Princeton, and Yale. Forget Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters even. You know you want to be enrolled in nowhere else but Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

You must be Obliviated not to know about this institution. A good part of human civilization has long yearned a one-way ticket aboard the Hogwarts Express from the prosaic Muggle world.

Others are content eternally waiting for their Hogwarts letters of acceptance, with bated breath the likes of which are reserved only for Santa—only that these people are adults. Everybody just wants Hogwarts to be real.

So is Hogwarts real? Filmmakers have long cashed in on that question by embodying JK Rowling's material in 2D and, ultimately, 3D. Yet billions want more than just gaping at Hogwarts behind the silver screen.

Hearkening to the collective "Accio!" of humankind, Universal Orlando Resort has corporealized Hogwarts within its Harry Potter theme park in Florida. Called the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, this theme park attempts to contain the fantastic places in Rowling's otherwise boundless universe. Hogwarts castle is just one of the many attractions here:

Now that's the Hogwarts theme park for you. If you want to walk where Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint walked, then head to Leavesden in England next year.

Leavesden Studios, the primary shooting location for all eight Harry Potter films, is being converted into a veritable museum for fans. Hogwarts' world-famous Great Hall is poised to be accessible among the intact sets, with more to be revealed in the coming months.

Hopefully the upcoming Harry Potter museum would include sets beyond Hogwarts, such as the Burrow, Privet Drive, and the Ministry of Magic. You know you just want a Time-Turner to make it 2012 already.
